hello hello

Today, it is 15 degrees outside. There is a woodpecker on our roof, pecking at the ice. I can hear it loud and clear inside the house. I am knitting three different things intermittently. Uploading gobs of photos. Doing a lot of planning and pondering. I just want to buy a pad of graph paper so I can rough out a new set of knitting patterns. And then work on that for the next few months. I read and was inspired by Trond Anfinnsen's 1 Man + 2 Needles book. I would love to embark on a creative project like that. I have a few January goals but most of them are similar to years past ... drink more water, run every day, get in shape, blah. Boring. I'm looking forward to a little trip back home with my best little traveling companion. I've compiled a mile-long list of favorite songs from 2010 for my friend Laura's mix tape exchange. But I need to give them all a good listen to make sure everything flows. I'm admiring Bo's good taste in my new Lip watch that I got over the holidays. I like that he knows me well enough to pick out watches. Because that's a very personal thing. I would like a few hours to myself to just sit in a book store, drink coffee and look at books for as long as I want. I need to let my imagination run. And I have been wondering about this blog ... what am I doing here? Is it worth it?

  1. YES,YES, YES, this blog is worth it!! It is one of my very favorite daily reads. Maybe just a New Years funk has got you and you don't realize how fab your posts are!?! Would love to see your knitting projects. I am almost done with GAPTASTIC and it is going to be fantastic, thanks to you Jen G!! Also starting the Bubble Sleeve Jacket by Knit 1 (Karen Clements)...I finished the Purl Soho blanket with the Kolette Pixie Dust yarn. DELICIOUS and pricey...but I love it! Please stay put in this little spot...I look forward to it every day!!

  9. No don't end the Jen G knitty goodness. I love your posts. You are a daily read fo sho!

I totally get the needing some time to recharge and reconnect. I asked my father (single mama over here) to watch my son for a couple hours so I could get my most fave coffee bevvy (Phil & Sebastians, only in Canada that I know of) and make a pilgrimage to the oldest library in Calgary.

I headed to the Crafty goodness section and just devowered(?) all of the vintage texts. LOVE! totally got my mojo back and I filled like 9 pages of my trusty notebook with ideas.

PS I taught myself to knit via youtube because of you lady! Thank you for igniting that spark.

PPS What about some kind of crafty exchange like a handmade postcard or something fun (and fairly inexpensive to ship)?

  11. Jen!!! No, don't leave this site!!! You are actually an inspiration! I came across your site a while back when googling "Yo Gabba Gabba" cakes. I was getting ready to bake my son a themed cake for his 2nd yr party, and there you were! At that time, I really wasn't myself; after I had baby #2, I didn't continue some of the crafty stuff that I used to indulge in (lack of time, energy, you name it). And then I saw your cool posts and figured, heck if she can do it, so can I! It's been a work in progress for myself, but whenever I'm in a funk, and need a good boost of creativity, I come to your site! Thanks for that!!! If you feel like reading about something new, feel free to visit my blog at www.mycrazyurbanworld.blogspot.com - now it's not nearly as fabulous as yours, but it's the best that I can do, considering. ;) All the best, Jessie
