braided

So, like many of you, I have been perusing Anthro's new looks for fall '10. And I stopped in my tracks when I saw this particular photo. Dude. A knitted/braided headwrap.
And then, as I was skimming through my Google Reader, I happened upon more braidy wonders at one of my favorite blogs, Knight Cat.
And, so you know I immediately thought 'I need to knit something like that.' And so I experimented with cables and braiding and what-not.
And came up with this pattern, which you can download for free ... Anthropologie-Inspired Headwrap. For you! Knit away! You'll surely find a zillion occasions to wear this rad ear-warmer/headband when things get chilly in your neck of the woods. (You can also find my pattern on Ravelry, right here.)

I just stumbled onto your blog and it's sooo funny- I literally just made this about a week ago! Fell in love with it on Anthropologie's site. Mine turned out too stretchy though, so I'm going to have to shrink it in the wash I think.

so glad I found this! I was just posting about the wrap and trying to "wrap" my head around how to make it. Putting this on my to-do list now!!

Cable pattern is to repeated 4 times. Is that Row 1, repeated 4 times or do Rows 1-12, then repeat them 4 times?

I'm a new knitter, still learning. Thanks.
Love the pattern.

hi there, mlenamon - the whole cable pattern (rows 1-12) should be repeated four times. thanks!

I love this headband! Unfortunately, when I clicked the link to the pattern I kept getting an error. If you could re-post the pattern I would really appreciate it!

Thanks

Weird! So sorry – this was from last year and the link must have gotten messed up. It should be fixed now.

I recently saw a photo in a fashion magazine for something almost exactly like this so I set out to make my own up. And now I have stumbled upon your pattern so I don't have to! Thanks so much for sharing:) Love your blog. Following!

Hi there! I'm loving this head wrap, but I have major issues with knitting the old fashioned way. Do you have any suggestions on converting this pattern to a loom? I'm sure thats considered cheating, but I'm just horrible with trying to handle 2 needles!

hi Beth! so sorry, but I have very limited experience with loom knitting, and I have no idea how to do cables on a loom. wish I could help!!

That's ok, thanks for your response tho! I bet I can do some research online to figure it out. Thanks!
