why

Sometimes people ask me why I do the things I do. Why I stay up late making weird things, why I blog, why I make little books filled with nonsense, why I spend too much time on this or that or whatever. Sometimes they kind of laugh, and I get it. It doesn't make me mad, but sometimes I wish I could explain it.

Sabrina Ward Harrison said it far better than I ever could.

'I believe we must create what we most need to find. I don't aim for pretty, I aim for release. We have to make room for our life in progress. As women, we must be heard along the way. We must share how it really feels, what we know but can't place. We must take a deeper breath and let go. Trust yourself. Leave ripples.'

  1. that is SO well put. Great quote, thanks for sharing. I can relate to your "why" situation... sometimes I don't even answer more than "because it's what I do" or "because it makes me happy", or simply "because."

  2. wow jen..I feel the same way...my coworkers just don't get it... they really don't ..I'm all alone there as far as appreciating art..I know they think I "waste my time" ..alot..what puts me over the moon doesn't even get a comment from them...I'm so different ..but I have a passion and they don't... at least I have others to share it with online.."who DO get it"

  5. I totally understand what you mean. A lot of people don't "get" what I do. And to me that's fine. I get what I do and I'm happy with it. My closest friends and family get it and see the results....I'm happy doing what I love. That's all that matters. If you're happy then you're doing something right. I love the quote, I may have to put it on my blog so that it can be shared with others. You nailed it and I hope you continue to do what you love in life. Great blog.

  9. I rarely tell people I scrapbook because it 1. takes too much time to sum up whay it really means to me, and 2. it makes me kind of question why I do do the tings I do... Ack. Congrats on being the new Dare girl!

  11. Love the quote.
Hate the idea people get when I say that I scrapbook. You know ... "it must be nice to have all that time" or "what a waste of time and money". It's a release and so necessary and I don't think I could give it up and still be sane.
